Renault Megane Sedan and Kombi

Renault presented the first official images and details for its all-new Megane earlier this month but only information about the five-door hatchback model was revealed. Also in the works are a new sedan model, touring wagon, and a sporty coupe, all expected to arrive over the course of next year.

We’ve already seen a preview of the coupe in the form of the Megane Coupe Concept from the Geneva Motor Show last march, and now we can have an early look at the sedan and wagon models with these latest computer generated renderings.

As expected the sedan will essentially be the five-door hatch but with a traditional trunk instead of the rear hatch opening. The car should also feature its one unique taillamps. The wagon, or ‘Kombi’ as it’s likely to be called, will basically be the hatch with an extended wheelbase and a slightly taller roof.

The engine lineup for both vehicles should mirror those of the hatch, meaning there will be a range of petrol engines displacing between 1.6L and 2.0L and developing up to 225hp (168kW) in the turbocharged performance models. Diesel fans will be able to choose from the current 1.5L and 1.9L dCi turbodiesel units, ranging in power from 89hp (66kW) to 178hp (132kW). Direct injection appears to be off the table for this round of updates due to cost considerations.

While the hatchback is set to go on sale shortly after its Paris Motor Show debut next month, the other variants aren’t expected to arrive until the first half of next year.
